It’s that time of year again. As much as I try to deny it, uni opens it’s doors again next week which means goodbye ignorant bliss and hello 5 subjects. How did this happen! The best way to save yourself from drowning in a pool of sorrow is to turn the situation into the ultimate shopping opportunity. You need new everything. That’s why I’ve taken the liberty of combing the shops for my favourite uni bag essentials.

On the go
Jack Wills 15 inch Laptop Case- £29.50
Having a sturdy laptop case is essential if you’ve decided to use your laptop for note taking. I can’t count the number of times my case has slipped through my fingers and knocked into the desk when I’m trying to gather my life together after a 2 hour lecture. I love my one from Jack Wills- its cushiony on the inside, waterproof and injects a bit of home into my daily life 🙂
Cotton On Plastic Water Bottle- $5
If you want to save money, buying your own water bottle to refill is a no brainer. It’s the tail end of summer here so water is my saviour, and part of my fitness goals is to actually stick to drinking 2L of water a day. For a fiver and in hot pink leopard print, I’m sold.
Forever New Mini Umbrella- $19.99
It may be Summer, but I’m English and you can never be too prepared. This cute frilly umbrella is so light it fits snuggly in your bag for emergencies- there’s nothing worse than being rained on at 10am when you don’t finish til 5.
Forever New phone case/wallet- $19.99
I am forever misplacing my phone at uni. I’m playing with it so often listening so intently that I’m always stuffing it in random pockets to write something only to have a heart attack a few minutes later that I’ve lost it. My solution was this cute quilted phone case/wallet. It means when you’re running for the bus, it’s all in one place!
Nivea Repair & Protection Lip Balm- $2.69
Because if you’ve missed the bus and don’t have time to do your face, with SPF20 this one is handy to have rolling around in your bag.

In the classroom
Debenhams Pencilcase- ~£10
This was actually a make up bag I received as a gift, but it was the perfect size for a pencil case. I recommend going for ones that are plastic or have an outer casing if you’re studying science, as you will spill liquid on it in the lab!
Kikki K A5 Weekly Leather Diary- was $59.95, now $47.96
If you’re doing a lot of subjects you have to keep organised. I found that using iCal or my phone just didn’t cut it for remembering those little things the lecturer advised. If you’re juggling work and uni, there’s no greater grievance than double booking. It leaves less time to fit your social life in! So think smart, I love this one in pink and gold.
Typo A4 4 subject notepad- 3 for $15
If you prefer to take notes the good old fashioned way, look no further than Typo. They have the coolest front cover designs on their notepads and have close to permanent deals on them!
Typo Kitty Cat paperclips- $5
Because I’m a vet student and I need cat-shaped paper clips. Inject some fun into your notes!
Soap2GO Pocket Pal Anti-bacterial hand gel- $1.50 (Priceline)
These are great as they have a little strap to attach to the inside of your bag or dissection kit. When you touch what we touch you never feel like your hands are clean, so I carry one of these everywhere! It’s so cute and pink and has blue beads in it…
What are your uni bag must-haves?
